Will Arnett: 2003-2016
The couple made their first public outing in 2002 and were married a year later. The first two met in the New York City comedy circle in the 1990s. Three months after their wedding, the beloved TV show Arrested Development aired, which cemented Arnett as a star in the public eye. Poehler would go on to be cast in the show as Arnett’s character’s wife for five episodes.
Poehler and fellow actor Will Arnett were married in 2003—a union that marked Poehler’s first marriage and Arnett’s second. They went on to have two children, Abel and Archie, together.
Although we know that the couple is now divorced, while the two were married, Poehler described the relationship as secure yet silly. „He makes me feel very safe. You can have a lot of adventures if you have someone by your side,“ she told People in 2005.
The two announced their separation publicly in 2012 and finalized their divorce in 2016.
Nick Kroll: 2013-2015
Poehler’s relationship with Nick Kroll was her first since her split from Arnett. Though the pair kept the relationship lowkey, the two comedians dated for roughly two years.
Kroll did briefly star on Poehler’s hit show Parks and Recreation, but the two would go on to break up, citing that they could not work out their relationship due to both having extremely busy schedules.
Joel Lovell: 2024 – 2025
Poehler has most recently been romantically linked to Joel Lovell. The pair were first photographed together at the Academy Awards in 2025, but reportedly began dating in 2024. Lovell is not an on-screen talent like Poehler’s previous boyfriends; instead, he currently works in podcasts and is a former New York Times Magazine editor and writer.
Much like Poehler’s previous romances, she has kept her relationship with Lovell under wraps, and the two are not usually seen in the public eye together. The two were last photographed at the iconic Los Angeles hotspot Sushi Park in West Hollywood in November of 2025.
