Why have we all been so afraid to play with color? It doesn’t feel too long ago that full, carved-out brows, cut creases, winged eyeliner, and ultra-sculpted contouring were part of the everyday routine—or at the very least, the go-to look for glam-worthy occasions. Now, you’d be hard-pressed to find the poster children of maximalist makeup, from Kylie Jenner to Jaclyn Hill, wearing the very looks they popularized. Much to the dismay of bold makeup girls everywhere, the decade has traded cut creases for soft monochromatic lids, brow pomades replaced with clear gels, contour palettes swapped for subtle cream sticks (at best). The message is loud and clear: where 2010s makeup celebrated color and drama, the 2020s thus far have been a complete 180. Despite quiet—albeit often unsuccessful—protests, the clean girl has reigned supreme, leaving colorful palettes to gather dust in the depths of every vanity drawer… patiently waiting for a comeback.

Yet even amid the clean girl dominance, every beauty enthusiast experiences a stint in that itch for color, often spurred by major seasonal shifts. That’s when a color fixation takes hold: last spring, it was berry flush; this fall, chocolate brown; and this winter, bubblegum pink. It’s unsurprising, really. As temperatures plummet, we desperately bundle ourselves up in endless layers and dread the gray, early sunsets. Naturally, we crave little bursts of joy through even the simplest of rituals. And makeup? It becomes the perfect antidote—hence the “cold-girl makeup” trend, quietly resurfacing every winter since 2022.

While each winter’s interpretation of cold-girl makeup varies, this year’s favorite lands on bubblegum pink: a cool-toned baby pink with almost icy blue undertones that’ll brighten the frostiest months. It’s like channeling the inner fairy ice princess in makeup form. And while most of us are already guilty of blush blindness, winter is certainly the time for everything blindness, especially through the frantic holiday rush and into the snowy months ahead.

From blushes and highlighters to eyeshadows and lippies, L’OFFICIEL’s curated edit of bubblegum pink makeup spotlights only the best formulas worth adding to your winter arsenal. And as a bonus, we’ve also rounded up some bubblegum pink makeup inspo, making a strong case for a much-needed color revival. Whether you stick to a natural flush, experiment with color mix-matching, or play your hand with bold, almost unblended looks, we’ve got something to break you out of the clean girl rut—even if just for a little while.

Pros: Luxurious, lightweight, and easy to blend.

Cons: High price point, and pigment intensity varies by shade.

Texture: Powder

Finish: Matte

Intensity: Natural but buildable.

Plus points: Paraben-free, phthalate-free, sulfate-free, and gluten-free.

Why we love it: Ever since Dior reformulated its viral Rosy Glow Powder Blush, the cult-favorite staple can no longer be accused of being “sheer” or “virtually pigment-free.” Sure, some shades still feel softer than others, but for the most part, the formula has now proven itself worthy of the hype. But don’t write it off: natural as it may be, you can build the intensity to your heart’s desire. Its color payoff is flexible enough that it could even double as eyeshadow for a monochromatic moment or a single wash of color. That’s what makes it so foolproof.

No matter how heavy-handed I get, there’s virtually no risk of overdoing it (not that blush blindness isn’t welcome). And no, it’s not just because the pigment leans natural; it’s because it blends so effortlessly that diffusing the intensity, even with deeper shades, is never an issue. When I do mess up my placement in a frenetic hurry, it’s easy to clean up.

The holiday edition shade, Starry Pink, is a perfect addition to any bubblegum pink makeup look this winter. But don’t fret if you miss it: the classic 001 Pink and 063 Pink Lilac, both part of the permanent collection, are just as flattering and timeless.

Bonus: Complete the Dior bubblegum pink makeup routine with the Rosy Glow Blush Stick in Pink Lilac, the Forever Glow Maximizer Liquid Highlighter in Pink, the Rouge Dior On Stage Lipstick in Ultimate Pink, and the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss in Frosted Opal.

Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Powder Blush in 001 Pink, $42, Sephora

Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Powder Blush in 063 Pink Lilac, $42, Sephora

Pros: Blurring, rich color payoff, and travel-friendly.

Cons: High price point, and longevity varies by shade.

Texture: Buttery

Finish: Matte and satin options.

Intensity: Medium but buildable.

Plus points: Fragrance-free, paraben-free, phthalate-free, and sulfate-free.

Why we love it: After years of being sidelined in favor of cream and liquid counterparts, powder blush is officially back in rotation—and that’s thanks in part to YSL’s Make Me Blush, which launched late last year. For a formula with such rich color payoff and strong pigment, this YSL blush offers a surprisingly customizable finish that picks up well with virtually every brush, dense or fluffy.

What I appreciate most about it, though, is that despite its powder format, it never reads flat, overly matte, or borderline dry (yes, even on my naturally dry, eczema-prone skin). Instead, it adds a healthy, diffused flush that locks in the rest of my base while blurring texture. I almost think of it as a regular pressed setting powder, except, of course, with color. You can actually feel it melt into the skin rather than sitting uncomfortably on top.

The palm-sized compact packaging is just another win. It’s slim enough to tuck into any drawer or even a pocket. YSL offers it in ten shades across the most coveted hues and undertones, including one that epitomizes the bubblegum pink makeup color trend: Babydoll Pink, a cool baby pink with a soft satin finish.

Bonus: Complete the YSL bubblegum pink makeup routine with the Loveshine Lip Oil Stick in Nude Lavalliere or Pink Trip.

YSL Make Me Blush 24H Buildable Powder Blush in Babydoll Pink, $46, Sephora

Pros: Luxurious, richly pigmented, lightweight, and easy to blend.

Cons: High price point and not the most long-wearing without a setting spray.

Texture: Gel-powder

Finish: Shimmer

Intensity: Medium but buildable.

Plus points: Non-comedogenic, paraben-free, fragrance-free, sulfate-free, and phthalate-free.

Why we love it: As a beauty writer who tests countless products almost daily, not a lot of formulas (including some of my favorites) leave a jaw-dropping impression. But I must say, the Gucci Glow Highlighter had me thinking about it for days. Its “Gel-Powder” name couldn’t be more accurate: for a powder, it has a uniquely buttery texture that almost feels creamy. Sure, many powders—blushes, highlighters, and eyeshadows—have mastered the art of buttery pigment and strong color payoff. But this one is the first of its kind. How can something dry also feel wet at the same time? This formula proves it’s possible. Applying it is an indulgent, sensorial experience in itself. No chalkiness, no fallout, just pure glow in a single swipe.

More importantly, powder highlighters are usually a dry-skin nightmare. I’ve seen the wonders they can do for those with normal, combination, and oily skin. But for dry skin? It’s less goddess glow, more texture highlighter—like an invitation to say hello to every stubborn dry patch. That’s why I’ve long stuck to liquids and creams. Yet, I never faced those pitfalls with this Gucci highlighter. It delivers the controlled shimmer I’ve been searching for, the glitzy zhuzh I never find in liquid or cream formulas, which often lean more natural and dewy. The fact that the intensity is customizable is just the cherry on top.

As for the bubblegum pink moment, the shades Frosted Lilac and Arctic Pink are the perfect complement to tie an icy, wintry look together.

Gucci Glow Multi-Use Illuminating Gel-Powder Highlighter in Frosted Lilac, $59, Sephora

Gucci Glow Multi-Use Illuminating Gel-Powder Highlighter in Arctic Pink $59, Sephora

Pros: Luxurious, easy to use, long-wearing, and travel-friendly.

Cons: High price point and prone to creasing if not set with powder.

Texture: Cream-liquid hybrid.

Finish: Matte, shimmer, and metallic options.

Intensity: Medium but buildable.

Plus points: Fragrance-free, paraben-free, phthalate-free, sulfate-free, silicone-free, and gluten-free.

Why we love it: A glam-ready look has never been easier ever since I met the Armani Eye Tint. While I’ve always been partial to palettes (chalk it up to growing up in the era of the cut crease), these single shadows have become my go-to when I have to achieve the impossible and put together a full beat in five minutes. For one, its cream-liquid hybrid texture immediately puts it ahead of all liquid formulas that tend to spill and transfer. With the Armani Eye Tint, I never have to be overly conscious about placement.

But more importantly, a quick swipe and finger dab is all I need to fake a complete eyeshadow look. I can even get away with skipping blending altogether (criminal, I know). That’s partly thanks to its cream-liquid format, but also because its pigment payoff hits the sweet spot: not so intense that it’s hard to clean up, yet not sheer, bordering on non-existent. One wash of color goes a long way, and when I want more impact, the metallics and shimmers certainly add a lot of glitz.

I do wish Armani Beauty made it in more shades. But thankfully, it didn’t skip a bubblegum pink step: the shade 70M Sakura delivers the most whimsically delicate baby-pink wash. To dial things up, 67S Sparkle, a champagne shimmer with soft pink undertones, has been my go-to for adding dimension to any eyeshadow look. It’s so versatile that it pairs well with virtually every color story.

Bonus: Complete the Armani Beauty bubblegum pink makeup routine with the Cheek Tint Liquid Blush in 53 Bold Pink or 53S Cosmic Pink.

Armani Eye Tint Long-Lasting Liquid Eyeshadow in 70M Sakura, $39, Sephora

Pros: Rich color payoff, lightweight, and wide shade variety.

Cons: Prone to patchiness when used with fluffier brushes.

Texture: Buttery

Finish: Matte, satin, and metallic options.

Intensity: Strong

Plus points: Award-winning, paraben-free, phthalate-free, formaldehyde-free, sulfate-free, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Why we love it: Hung Vanngo Beauty makes a compelling case for the long-awaited revival of maximalist makeup with its Color Story Eyeshadow Palettes. And by maximalist, it’s not just about the vivid shades themselves; it’s the high-impact color, ultra-rich pigment, and buttery texture. This is certainly not the palette for diffused, barely-there washes. And in a market overwhelmingly saturated with natural options, that’s precisely the point. There’s no space for muted here, and Hung Vanngo speaks that language fluently.

Each palette is thoughtfully curated, ranging from light to deep tones, and featuring a balance of matte, satin, and metallic finishes. The Rebellious Red & Pink palette, in particular, is a welcome addition for a bubblegum pink eyeshadow look. Yes, the deeper mattes lean more berry than candy, but the lighter satins and metallics take bubblegum pink to its glitziest, most head-turning level.

Hung Vanngo Beauty Color Story Eyeshadow Palette in Rebellious Red & Pink, $49, Sephora

Pros: Ultra-creamy glide, rich color payoff, and easy to use.

Cons: Prone to smudging and not the most long-wearing.

Texture: Creamy

Finish: Velvet matte

Intensity: Strong but easily blendable.

Plus points: Fragrance-free, paraben-free, phthalate-free, sulfate-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Why we love it: Perhaps the most controversial beauty launch of the year, a best-seller nonetheless. Not to play devil’s advocate, but as unconventional as Rhode’s Peptide Lip Shape is, it has completely changed the way I approach lip combos. There’s definitely a learning curve when it comes to this formula (it’s very creamy, after all). I’m sure you’ve seen arguments both for and against the fact that it’s not a lip liner per se, but rather a lip contour. But give it a shot. Instead of relying on it for precise lines and staying power, I use it to subtly shape and create the illusion of fuller lips, adding soft shadows around the mouth before applying a lip liner (if I use one at all). Think of it as regular facial contouring, but for your lips. And don’t be fooled by how creamy it is: the color payoff is totally rich.

Once I realized it works best on the outer edges of the lips, it stayed on much, much longer than when treated like a standard liner. It simply creates a clearer canvas for the rest of my routine. Those soft shadows? I credit them for making me more intentional about liner and lipstick placement without being overly anxious about messing up. It might sound counterintuitive, but taking an extra step before using a liner has cut my lip combo time in half. As it turns out, the smudging I once dreaded has its perks.

Particularly, the shade Lift, a soft, cool-toned baby pink, is my go-to first step for every lip look. It’s like your lips, but better: close to a natural lip color, and adaptable to your own tone. And it undoubtedly makes for a good start to a bubblegum pink moment.

Bonus: Complete the Rhode bubblegum pink makeup routine with the Peptide Lip Tint in Jelly Bean or Ribbon and the Pocket Blush in Piggy.

Rhode Lip Shape in Lift, $24, Sephora

Pros: Rich pigment, smooth glide, dual-ended, and multi-purpose.

Cons: Not the most long-lasting.

Texture: Creamy

Finish: Matte

Intensity: Medium but buildable.

Plus points: Award-winning, paraben-free, phthalate-free,  fragrance-free, sulfate-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Why we love it: When it comes to shade variety, Makeup by Mario never misses—and its lip liners are no exception. The lineup spans every undertone, hue, and depth you could ever want, including a bubblegum pink standout: Johnny, a light, muted rose pink. I mostly use it for precise sculpting, but thanks to its wooden pencil format, it’s also adaptable for subtle contouring and shadowing when used at a slightly upward angle. The built-in brush makes blending and diffusing much easier, too (something much needed when I’m on the go and forget to bring my entire combo). Perhaps not the longest-lasting liner, but its richness, smooth glide, and buildability are not to be overlooked. Best of all, it doesn’t bleed or smudge, so it’s a sure staple.

Makeup by Mario Ultra Suede Sculpting Lip Pencil in Johnny, $26, Sephora

Pros: Luxurious, moisturizing, rich pigment, and refillable.

Cons: High price point.

Texture: Creamy

Finish: Satin

Intensity: High-impact but easily diffusable.

Plus points: Award-winning, paraben-free, sulfate-free, formaldehyde-free, phthalate-free, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Why we love it: High-impact lipsticks that are moisturizing and comfortable are true gems in the beauty world, and it comes as no surprise that one of them comes from Charlotte Tilbury. For a formula so richly pigmented and creamy, the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipstick never feels too thick or heavy (read: it’s not a total hair magnet as the icy winds blow). Even when I don’t exfoliate beforehand, it doesn’t cling to dry patches or flakiness, nor does it settle into the natural fine lines of my lips. It simply smooths my lips and leaves them looking evenly toned and conditioned for hours on end.

Once it does fade? They still feel hydrated without the need for gloss, oil, or balm throughout the day—unless, of course, it’s especially cold and dry, in which case reapplications are inevitable. In other words, it offers the intense color you’d expect from a high-impact lipstick, paired with the nourishing, cocooning comfort and subtle shine of a tinted lip balm. For an understated bubblegum pink lip combo, Candy Chic, a neutral candy pink, is your best bet.

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Satin Shine Lipstick in Candy Chic, $35, Sephora

Pros: Cooling, lightweight, hydrating, and comfortable.

Cons: Not the most long-lasting.

Texture: Silky

Finish: High-shine

Intensity: Sheer

Plus points: Paraben-free, sulfate-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Why we love it: While the Glossier Lip Glaze could use some work in the longevity department, its lightly cooling, comfortable feel more than makes up for it. Even some of my favorite lippies tend to emphasize texture and flakiness on particularly dry days. But the Glossier Lip Glaze? Never.

In a sea of glosses masquerading as lip oils, this formula is the real deal: a silky, almost balm-like slip that glides on quickly and quenches the lips’ thirst for moisture throughout the driest season. As for the bubblegum pink lip front, Frosty (a clear lilac) and Chilly (a cool baby pink) are the subtly icy, wintry treats for the lips—both in texture and shade.

Bonus: Complete the Glossier bubblegum pink makeup routine with the Cloud Paint Plush Blush in Billow.

Glossier Lip Glaze Cooling Sheer Lip Oil in Frosty, $22, Sephora

Glossier Lip Glaze Cooling Sheer Lip Oil in Chilly, $22, Sephora

Pros: Luxurious, plumping, and moisturizing.

Cons: High price point and color payoff varies by shade.

Texture: Gel-cream

Finish: Glossy

Intensity: Natural but buildable.

Plus points: Paraben-free, gluten-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, and gluten-free.

Why we love it: Since discovering the magical comfort of lip oils, most of my glosses have fallen to the back burner. The Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Gloss, on the other hand, has stayed in rotation. Not only is it plumping enough to create a fuller look, but it also has such a cushiony, gel-cream texture that feels much more lightweight than traditional lip glosses. The shine reads natural with a single layer, but make no mistake: the gloss builds to a high-impact, wet-look finish without disrupting the rest of your lip combo or diffusing the color altogether.

And that’s not all. While many lip glosses nowadays function as sheer toppers, this Chanel lip gloss offers a truly rich color payoff—albeit some shades more than others. Case in point: Rose Naïf, a vivid bubblegum pink that’s as glossy as it is unapologetically bright.
