It was 2015, and during a quiet afternoon in his Milan apartment, Giorgio Armani shared with me the guiding principles that had carried him through a remarkable career—and, indeed, through life itself. On September 4, 2025, the world bid farewell to the man known for changing the fashion landscape, who passed away at the age of 91. For nearly half a century, Armani revolutionized contemporary style, elevating Made in Italy to global renown and building an empire with revenues surpassing billions. 

The relationship between Armani and L’OFFICIEL has been a lasting one, stretching back to the magazine’s early tributes to the designer from Piacenza, who would become the very symbol of Italian elegance. His path was marked by milestones that shaped both fashion and culture: the debut of Armani Privé couture, the launch of Armani Hotels, and the opening of Armani/Silos in Milan, a museum space dedicated to his vision on the occasion of his brand’s 40th anniversary.

Through it all, Armani remained steadfastly loyal to his own codes. “For me, loyalty is a fundamental value, whether in love or in work,” he once said. “The things I care about most are long-lasting and deeply rooted: consistency has defined my life. I have always sought to make my aesthetic vision unforgettable.”
