Could Carrie Bradshaw Return? Here's Why Fans Think It's Possible

Yes, And Just Like That… is over—for good, series creator Michael Patrick King has made that much clear.

“While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,“ wrote King in a statement posted to HBO’s Instagram.

The two-part series finale saw Carrie Bradshaw grace our screens for the last time earlier in August 2025, and the final scene saw Sarah Jessica Parker’s famed fashionista dancing to Barry White in her apartment while finishing up her novel. „The woman realized she was not alone—she was on her own,“ Carrie wrote, symbolizing both an end and a beginning to the tumultuous period of her life that And Just Like That… followed. Except for many, the end of Carrie Bradshaw as viewers have come to know her isn’t just the end of the series—it’s the end of an era. Since the ’90s, Sex and the City has been a cultural fixation, and despite now-dated references, jokes, and plot points, the series and its central tenets of friendship, especially between women, still resonate with modern audiences—and of course, the series‘ iconic style moments live on forever.

The statement and the series‘ final scene couldn’t have been more cut and dry. But does that really mean it’s curtains for Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte?

Perhaps not, if some sharp-eyed fans are to be believed.

Just over a week after the finale aired, series executive producer Elisa Zuritsky told TVLine, “She’s alive, so [a future series] could happen. Sarah Jessica Parker is Michael Patrick King’s muse,” she said “and the reason he says ‘I’ve said goodbye before and I’ve come back’ is because it’s true.”

“I am the eternal optimist. So I don’t like to be too final about things, and life is long. I mean, we’ve all seen lots of things happen,” she added.

Zuritsky’s hesitant, yet hopeful musings on another potential reboot had social media users abuzz, but as per usual, where the Internet was concerned, opinions were mixed—and strong.

Some pointed out that Carrie’s story seemed to have been wrapped up, looking towards that memorable final scene in particular, while others argued that there’s plenty more to be explored—especially where non-Bradshaw characters are concerned. After all, Charlotte and Miranda—and dare we say Samantha, who remained unseen, abroad in London throughout And Just Like That…—led vibrant, action-packed lives of their own in both the original series and the reboot.

Another fixation point for fans was Parker’s own Instagram statement, which closely echoed King’s. “MPK and I together recognized, as we have in the past, this chapter complete,” she wrote. Final as SJP’s sentimental montage and accompanying caption read, the word ‚chapter‘ tripped viewers up, and left many questioning whether that door was left open on purpose.

Given critical reactions and broader cultural reactions to the reboot, it seems unlikely, but in classic Carrie Bradshaw fashion, fans just can’t help but wonder.
