Halloween is around the corner, and your costume plans are still… nonexistent. No worries—we’ve all been there, scrolling through Pinterest two days before the 31st, trying to figure out what we can make out of the random things in our closet.

Whether you’re heading to a last-minute party, dressing up for a work event, or just want something clever for your social feed, there are plenty of quick DIY and pop culture-inspired looks that are easy to throw together and still look like you put some thought into them. Unique, but not too niche to the point where your chronically offline friends may still have a chance at understanding them, these last-minute Halloween costumes are perfect for a spur-of-the-moment party or an event that necessitates a festive look.

Jennifer Coolidge from The White Lotus

Channel everyone’s favorite chaotic rich aunt. All you need is a flowy floral dress or a resort-style kaftan, big sunglasses, a floppy sunhat, and some pearls. If you can find a champagne glass or a fake martini, even better. Do the soft-voiced Tanya impression, and you’re golden. Quick twist: tape a paper airplane to your outfit labeled “Palermo,” or wear a lei to hint at Season 1 vs. Season 2. Bonus points if you have a friend willing to go as Greg (just make him look plenty suspicious).

Eras Tour Swiftie

We’re deep in the Taylor Swift multiverse, and you can absolutely get away with wearing whatever sparkly or pastel item you own and calling it a costume. Add a few friendship bracelets, carry a (fake) concert ticket, and a belt with any of her song titles. For extra effect, write “Taylor’s Version” on your shirt with a Sharpie, or tape a setlist to your back like you just left the stage. If you’ve got red lipstick, glitter, and confidence, you’re all set to go with your last-minute Halloween costume—you’re in your Eras era, obviously

The Trader Joe’s Girl

One of 2025’s quietest—but funniest—viral trends is the rise of the Trader Joe’s girl on TikTok and Instagram. Throw on a puffer vest, tote bag, comfy pants, and carry a reusable coffee cup. Add a tiny pumpkin or flowers as a prop. The key is to act like you’re deciding between three flavors of pumpkin hummus. Chill, cozy, and instantly relatable, this is the ultimate last-minute Halloween costume for a comfortable night out with friends.

‚Severance‘ Employee (Innie Edition)

For anyone whose 9-to-5 feels like a psychological thriller, consider bringing your worst fears to life with a last-minute Halloween costume inspired by Severance. Channel your inner (no pun intended) Mark S. by wearing a crisp white button-up, slim tie, and that slightly haunted expression of someone who’s done one too many data refinements.

If you want to sell it, wear your work ID badge (handmade with ‚Lumon Industries‘ and a photo of yourself looking dead inside), slick your hair neatly to one side, and carry a folder or a coffee cup like it’s the only thing tethering you to reality. Add dark under-eye circles for authenticity.

Dune

This one’s for everyone who loves the Dune franchise, but not quite enough to buy a replica of a stillsuit. Go for desert-core with zero commitment. Think cargo pants, a hoodie, a scarf, an oversized wrap, or really, anything beige or tan. Add sunglasses and tousled hair that says „just survived a sandstorm.“ If you want to be extra, rub a little bronzer or brown eyeshadow across your cheekbones for thatI’ve been wandering the dunes for days“ glow.

The AI Girlfriend

In 2025, there’s no denying that tech has begun to take over our lives even more. Go futuristic with an all-white or silver outfit, slick bun, glossy lip, and a deadpan stare. Add metallic eyeshadow or use your phone flashlight for an eerie glow. Speak in robotic phrases like „Affection loading…“ or „I am emotionally available 2.0.“ If you want to elevate it, add an „Error 404: Feelings Not Found“ sticky note to your shirt for a creepy, current, and—disturbingly—relatable look.

Though achieving a DIY costume up to par with Zendaya’s iconic robot-inspired vintage Mugler look seems unrealistic, with just a few days left until Halloween, there’s nothing left to do but try.
