This Valentine’s Day, our heart belongs to Eva Gutowski—’MyLifeAsEva‘ is living her best life, and love looks incredible on her. From her iconic “Get Ready With Me” videos to candid vlogs that make you laugh, cry, or both, Eva has been inviting audiences into her world since 2013. Watching her grow up online is like watching a longtime friend navigate life—messy, joyful, and completely unfiltered.
“My viewers have seen every relationship I’ve been in since I was still a teenager,” she says. “They’ve seen my breakups, my crash outs, the times when I was at my lowest and still figuring out my self-worth.” And now? Love is very much in the air. Eva recently got engaged to her fiancé, Olav, and we caught up with her to talk Valentine’s Day plans, the proposal, and how she’s planning 2026.
She’s approaching 2026 with the same optimism, humor, and wide-eyed energy that has always endeared her to fans. “I love how everyone is comparing 2026 to 2016, because 2016 was such a great year of my life. I’m hoping 2026 has that same feeling of being carefree, confident, and a little delusional. Olav and I talk a lot about what we want for our future—like kids someday, and building a house somewhere in the forest—and it makes me realize how lucky I am to be living in the greatest city in the world and getting to do what I love for my job. The plan is to savor that as much as possible this year.”
We asked Gutowski about her favorite rom-coms of all time (Aquamarine and The Princess Diaries). “Plus, I loooove making Olav watch them with me and bringing him into girl world! It feels like I’m making sure the ancient texts aren’t forgotten.” She also shared the advice she’d give her younger self. Engaged, happy, and thriving, Eva Gutowski is glowing—and we’re here for it. L’OFFICIEL: You just got engaged, did you feel it coming at all? Were there little signs, or did it completely catch you off guard? Paint the picture for us.
EVA GUTOWSKI: Olav and I started looking at rings around 9 months ago, which made it officially feel “real” (like, okay, this is happening!). But after that, it was pretty quiet. I knew it was coming eventually, but I had no idea when. We planned to spend this last Christmas in Norway with his family, and even flew our dog Hanalei to Europe for the first time. On that trip, he started looking at me differently… almost longer? He had this dopey look in his eye that was like “I’m looking at my future wife”. That’s when I started feeling like “hmm… he’s definitely hiding a big secret,“ because it was literally all over his face.
L’O: This will be your first Valentine’s Day as an engaged couple—does that shift the plans at all, or is it business as usual?
EG: Haha! The funny thing is Olav will be working in LA on Valentine’s Day, and I’ll be running to shows all day since it’s currently NYFW. We both feel like we’ve celebrated our engagement to the fullest. We went to our favorite restaurant (Flyfish Club) and also had a full spa day. There’s been a lot of champagne and relaxing going on, so this V-day i’m looking forward to spending time with my girlfriends and having a belated date night with Olav once he’s home!
L’O: What’s your personal Valentine’s Day philosophy: romantic night out or cozy night in?
EG: Cozy night in! Just getting to spend time with my partner is enough for me. Plus, we live in NYC, so Olav and I are big fans of “enjoying our rent.“
L’O: What are the actual plans this year? And be honest—are you the type to research, choose, and book the restaurant, or do you hand the reins over to your fiancé?
EG: It’s usually Olav’s job to plan date night, but I think I’ll take over planning our next date because he kind of *did* just put together the date of a lifetime with the engagement. I have big shoes to fill!
L’O: Give us a little fashion teaser: what’s the Valentine’s look? Are we talking classic red, soft pink, something sleek and neutral, or a full, unexpected moment?
EG: I think nothing makes me feel more sexy and confident than an all-leather moment. I have these insanely hot vintage black low-rise leather pants from Guess. I love wearing them with a pointy-toe boot and a leather jacket zipped all the way to the TOP. It’s very sleek and mysterious, and I think to me, that’s my kind of look for Valentine’s Day in the city.
L’O: Do you have a favorite Valentine’s Day memory with your now-fiancé that really sums up your relationship?
EG: In 2023, we spent Valentine’s Day in NYC because we were in town for the legendary Fred Again…, Four Tet, and Skrillex show at Madison Square Garden. We took the trip as an opportunity to also find our first apartment together in the city. During the day, we were hunting for our dream apartment, and all night we were dancing at different venues across town. Olav booked a spot at Bond Street to celebrate V-Day, and since then, it’s been a tradition of ours to go there for the holiday.
L’O: Every it-girl has a signature. What’s the one thing you do, wear, or swear by that makes people think, “That is so you?“
EG: When I want to smell like I have a mysterious billion dollars in my bank account, I spray ONE spritz of Diptique “Eu Rihla” on my outfit. I also never leave the house without a pair of statement earrings and giant sunglasses!
L’O: Are you doing anything for Galentine’s Day this year with your friends?
EG: I’ve been super into the winter Olympics, especially because I have so many friends competing! I thought it would be cute to host a Galentine’s Day where all my girlfriends and I can watch the Olympics, so I’ve been purposely avoiding seeing any results until tonight. I think it’s going to be so fun!
L’O: It’s still early in the year—what do you feel like 2026 is shaping up to be for you? Or what are you hoping this year becomes “the year of?“
EG: I love how everyone is comparing 2026 to 2016, because 2016 was such a great year of my life. I’m hoping 2026 has that same feeling of being carefree, confident, and a little delusional.Olav and I talk a lot about what we want for our future (like kids someday, and building a house somewhere in the forest), and it makes me realize how lucky I am to be living in the greatest city in the world and getting to do what I love for my job. The plan is to savor that as much as possible this year.
L’O: What is your favorite rom-com of all time?
EG: Honestly, I love rewatching rom-coms from childhood like Aquamarine and The Princess Diaries. They’re such feel-good movies, and I love how even though there’s a love story, the bigger story is the main character’s evolution. It’s so hilarious to me to watch all the love interests that you had crushes on when you were ten, but now recognize all the red flags you’d never put up with, now that you’re older. Plus, I loooove making Olav watch them with me and bringing him into girl world! It feels like I’m making sure the ancient texts aren’t forgotten.
L’O: Your engagement ring is absolutely stunning—did you have any input in the design, or was it a total surprise?
EG: Thank you so much!!! Olav and I looked at so many modern, unique engagement rings, but ultimately fell in love with the classic pear shape. I like to collect a lot of jewelry and rings, and this one was a ring I would never get myself. It’s so elegant and chic, and we both felt it symbolized where we were heading in our futures. Olav got the ring custom-made and wanted to personalize it further, so he had his handwriting engraved on the inside and also added our birthstones! At first, when we were ring shopping, I was thinking, “What if the ring I like is too simple?” But then I realized TikTok had probably brainwashed me a bit into thinking my engagement ring had to be something aesthetically revolutionary. Sometimes nothing beats a classic!
L’O: And lastly, you’ve essentially grown up on YouTube. What does it feel like to share a moment like this with followers who’ve grown up right alongside you?
EG: It feels like it’s one of the most full-circle stories I’ve gotten to tell. My viewers have seen every relationship I’ve been in since I was still a teenager. They’ve seen my breakups, my crash outs, the times when I was at my lowest and was still figuring out my self-worth. To be able to show this huge milestone in my life, to be engaged to someone who treats me so well and loves me so much, I really hope I can be an example of staying true to yourself, trusting your own divine timing, and never taking anything less than what you deserve. There were so many times in my early 20’s where I almost settled for less because I thought that was “good enough” (but it definitely wasn’t), and I’m so grateful I gave myself grace to make mistakes and learn from them, because without any of that I would have never found Olav! If I could give advice to my younger self or anyone who’s watched me for a while, it’s that the right person will come, and until then, have fun being single, know that every relationship offers a valuable lesson, and above all, love yourself harder than anyone else.
