Everything You Missed on 'House of the Dragon' Season 3 Episode 7

Although Rhaenyra may have claimed the throne earlier this season, her reign has proved no easier than her ascent. With her competitive half-brothers, Aegon and Aemond, still alive and fighting, her attention is divided, to say the least. All the while, her city is in disarray and her new enemy, Ormund Hightower, proves to be craftier than she had anticipated. 

House of the Dragon season 3 may wrap up next week, but this latest episode has left viewers with even more questions—namely, just how many betrayals can Rhaenyra endure? Below, see everything you missed on House of the Dragon season 3 episode 7.

House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 7 Recap

With the entryway deserted, Helaena wanders around at the gate of the Red Keep, peacefully stroking a horse as the sun shines down. Before long, she is woken from her dream by Rhaenyra, who asks her about Aemond. Helaena tells her about her ambitions of riding her dragon, Dreamfyre, but tells Rhaenyra it became too much. Rhaenyra tells her about her suspicions that Helaena is a dreamer and asks what she has seen most recently. Helaena cannot say for certain and says that she only sees flashes. Rhaenyra becomes frustrated and compels her, as her queen, to reveal what she knows. 
Aemond, still recovering from his wounds, practices his swordsmanship in Harrenhal with his hair down and eyepatch off. Looking up, he spots Alicent standing in the quarter of the room. She explains what has happened in the time since he went missing and embraces him. Skeptically, he hugs her back. He asks about Aegon, and Alicent says he is most likely dead. She says she did everything she could for both of them, but ultimately failed Aemond. They embrace again and begin kissing. The music shifts eerily, and it is revealed that he had been speaking to Alys, not Alicent. He runs out of the room and sees Alicent approaching in the halls of the ruined castle. 
The army of Northmen and Riverland forces march onward, carrying Criston Cole’s head on a spike. Gwayne rushes back to Tumbleton, where he reports the army’s size and location to Ormund. Gwayne, realizing that Cole has died, appears distressed. 
Caraxes and Daemon arrive at the Eyrie in search of Rhaena. Jane Erryn tells him that she has fled the Vale on Sheepstealer. She tells him that she must alert Rhaenyra, and Daemon pleads with her, asking her not to reveal the dragonrider’s true identity. Out in the wilderness, Baela and Addam wander in search of Vhagar. Addam asks that Baela make his case for legitimization to Rhaenyra. She wonders why now, and he says that in the event of marriage, the brothers would want their father’s name. With a coy smile on her face, Baela says, „So your brother has spoken to you then,“ hinting at her blossoming romance with Alyn. Addam’s face falls, but before they can discuss it further, Baela spots Sheepstealer in the sky. 
Back at Harrenhal, Alicent crafts a lie about escaping from King’s Landing. Fully dressed and hair done, Aemond looks into his mother’s eyes. She leads him outside and introduces him to her „protector,“ but Aemond kills him, telling her that he cannot trust a stranger. 
In Ormund’s chambers at Tumbleton, we see the lord digging into a meal. Before long, the camera pans over to an unexpected guest: Corlys Velaryon, who was abducted at the end of the last episode. Ormund reveals his plan: not to kill Corlys, but to prevent the Velaryon men from stopping the unrest in King’s Landing. Ormund asks why Corlys is allied with the Targaryens, wondering what he sees in them. Corlys stands up and requests to return to his cell. Later, Daeron and Gwayne wonder what Ormund has planned, now that Rhaenyra’s army is approaching. Daeron expresses his condolences for Cole’s death, and Gwayne says that Daeron could flee on his dragon if he wanted to. He refuses, but says that Rhaenyra can keep her crown for all he cares. 

In Rhaenyra’s small council, her master of coin expresses his displeasure. She asks after Daemon, but the maester says he is on a personal errand. Lady Frey asks about Harrenhal, and Rhaenyra angrily tells her to just take it. Before long, Baela and Addam enter the room with news: Sheepstealer has been spotted with a rider. Afterward, Mysaria asks Rhaenyra if she has any doubts about Daemon’s loyalty. She doesn’t want to believe Mysaria, but she asks the queen if there is anything Daemon could do that would truly surprise her. She thinks about it, and asks a guard to bring her Addam. 
On the road, Larys, Tyland, and Aegon ride to the port, eager to leave Westeros. They encounter people fleeing the direction they are headed and find out there is an army loyal to Rhaenyra—and thousands of citizens leaving—and decide to turn back.
At Harrenhal, Alicent has an awkward dinner with Alys and Aemond. Aemond explains that Alys saved his life. He says that he has decided to stay at Harrenhal and make it his seat. He says that Rhaenyra will fall out of power in time, and that he will raise his own power. He tells her that a new dawn is coming, as he holds Alys’s hand. Aemond insists that Alicent stay, and Alys becomes irritated. They go outside to talk, and Alicent runs back to her protector’s body for his sword, before spotting poisonous berries on a bush nearby. „My designs for our future did not include your mother,“ she tells him, before warning that Alicent has come with ill will. 
Larys, Aegon, and Tyland discover that the army is searching for Tyland, and they discuss what the best course of action is. Aegon says he refuses to run anymore, and that he doesn’t want to die unknown in the dust. He says he wants to be buried as a king with his dragon. Tyland decides to stay with him, while Larys leaves. 
Caraxes and Daemon pursue Sheepstealer and Rhaena, and Daemon dismounts to talk to his daughter. Rhaena says that she is looking for Vhagar, and she says that if she kills the giant dragon, she will pay back some of her debts to Rhaenyra. She says that she cannot live alone in the wilderness, cut off from her family. Daemon says that he will fight with her against Vhagar. She asks why, and he says that he should have done better. They spot Addam and Rhaenyra, and Rhaena runs away. Addam chases after her as Rhaenyra confronts Daemon. Addam brings Rhaena back to Rhaenyra, and she is incredulous. Sheepstealer becomes agitated, and the wild dragon battles Rhaenyra’s dragon, Syrax. Addam and Daemon join the fight on Seasmoke and Caraxes, and Rhaenyra and Rhaena fly away on Syrax. Before Caraxes can kill the wild dragon, Daemon falls off, and Sheepstealer escapes on foot, injured. 
Back in King’s Landing, the brothel owner Sylvi and Mysaria walk into the throne room as they discuss the unrest in the city. Now that Rhaenyra refuses to hear requests from her people, Mysaria says she will act as her proxy. Sylvi says that Mysaria has changed and expresses her doubts about Mysaria’s intentions. Before she leaves, she cautions Mysaria not to think that she is an equal in the eyes of the lords, ladies, and royalty. In the dragonpit, Rhaenyra asks her guards to find Rhaena a room and says that she does not wish to see her.
Alicent tells Aemond that she plans to leave and brings him a glass of spiced wine, recalling the times he could not fall asleep without it. Aemond tells Alicent that Alys is suspicious of her, and she asks who he really trusts. He reveals that he tried to kill Aegon, and she says that she already knew. 
As she readies for bed, Rhaenyra is visited by Daemon. He tells her that he was only trying to protect Rhaena. He asks for forgiveness, and in tears, she says that it is late. Daemon leaves. In her room, Rhaena cries, and Baela enters. She says that Rhaena will begin anew and hugs her. 
Alyn returns from patrol and receives a box. He opens it, only to see Corlys‘ severed finger. 
An ailing Aemond walks into Alys‘ maester’s chambers before falling to the ground. She calls him an idiot. Alicent leaves the castle in tears. 
Back in King’s Landing, Helaena has visions as she sleeps. One shows her giving birth, while another sees her burning something on the back of Dreamfyre. In a final eerie dream, she plays with her two children in a field as the sky turns dark and snow falls. 
Rhaenyra, restless, throws the skull that Daemon gave her into the fire.  She debates with Mysaria about Daemon’s interests, and Rhaenyra confronts her about leading her astray. She breaks down, and Mysaria consoles her and comforts her about the certainty of her rule. They kiss and share an intimate moment together. 
In the woods, Tyland and Aegon sit around a fire before hearing the footsteps of an army approaching. A leader tells them that they are claiming the lands for Rhaenyra. The pair prepare to make a final stand, and Aegon refuses to surrender and swear fealty. The leader recognizes Tyland and tells him to surrender the missing gold. Aegon reveals his identity with a passionate speech, and the army begins to back away. Behind him, Sunfyre emerges from the trees, alive. Aegon commands the dragon to burn the army while laughing maniacally. 
Outside of Tumbleton, Ulf and Ormund sit together drinking ale. Ormund says that he heard about Daemon striking Ulf in the street. Ormund says that Rhaenyra sees Ulf only as a tool. He promises Driftmark to Ulf, and he agrees.
